Ajayi Rasheedat is a remarkable pharmacist with a real passion for public health concerns including sexual and reproductive health, substance abuse, mental and physical health; and maternal and child health. She was a member of the Youth Rescue Club, the HIV/AIDS Prevention Promotion Youth Club and the Osun State Community Development Service’s Medical Team.

Over the years, she has acquired knowledge and skills in public health. Rasheedat has trained over 400 adolescents to become peer educators. She has participated in several community outreaches and helped solved public health-related problems. She is passionate about improving the well-being of Nigerians.

Olaoluwa Abagun is a lawyer and a vocal girls’ rights advocate. She was ushered into advocacy and community organizing at the tender age of 13, as a member of the Nigerian Children’s Parliament. She has advocated across strategic international platforms including the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Olaoluwa is the founder of Girl Pride Circle Initiative, an NGO which advocates for girls’ rights and empowers girls to transform their communities. She is a Women Deliver Young Leader, an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and a finalist for the 2017 McKinsey Next Generation Women Leaders Award. Olaoluwa is passionate about achieving gender equality through policymaking, advocacy, and particularly in education, economic participation and political representation across Nigeria.

Oluwafunmilola ‘Lola James is a public health professional, researcher, cancer control advocate, and a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Upon graduating top of her MSc class from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, she joined the Breast Without Spot (BWS) NGO as the National Project Manager. ‘Lola’s role with BWS requires her to conceptualize, plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate various public health projects aimed at reducing preventable cancer deaths in Nigeria.

A strong believer in acquiring and disseminating knowledge, ‘Lola is a beneficiary of numerous trainings in cancer control, including those by the National Cancer Institute (NCI)/NIH, Oxford University, American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). ‘Lola’s short term plan is to further obtain a PhD in Implementation Science.

Presently working with a group of 4 other health professionals to establish a sustainable breast and cervical cancer screening unit at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

She is also an advocate of mental healing for abuse survivors. In addition, she organized a community clean-up and a food drive for less privileged persons in Abuja. She also worked with the organizing team for Every Woman Is A Star Conference 2.0.

Peter Okeugo is a journalist and human rights activist. Currently a Fellow of the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative of the US Consulate General, Lagos, Nigeria, he is working with the Education team to design and implement a sustainable education project, which will provide 21st Century digital skills to secondary school students in an under-served community in Lagos State.

His passion for human rights activism was fueled after he got a lead from the Prison Inmates Development Association in Bauchi State, to investigate and report the abduction of two underage Christian girls by the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission in Northern Nigeria. His series of reports, published on three consecutive Sundays in Sunday PUNCH Newspaper, prompted the then-Inspector General of Police to order their release after being held for several months.

With support from the Civic Media Laboratory for Investigative Journalism & Independent Media (Civic Hive Nigeria and Sahara Reporters Media Foundation), he recently launched a technology product called AVOICE4US, a media solution to social injustice and human rights violation in Nigeria.

Yetunde Adenrele (who prefers to be called Dayo) is a public health professional with special interests in adolescent reproductive health, education, youth development and the civic engagement of young people in governance. She currently volunteers with a number of youth-centered NGO in Lagos State as a facilitator for youth development sessions. She is also a partner at Teenpreneurs Hub, a leadership incubation and STEM education centre in Lagos State. Teenpreneurs Hub trains teenagers and other young people on three thematic areas: Leadership, Entrepreneurship and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Yetunde is a civic leadership fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and a fellow of the pioneer cohort of the Teach for Nigeria Fellowship, which is aimed at raising Leader-Teachers. Yetunde’s vision is to be at the forefront of leading the journey to national development, using education as a driver of change.

Jumoke Adeoye is a certified nutritionist and public health professional. She is passionate about impacting the lives of vulnerable population groups especially PLHIV. As a nutritionist, she identifies and manages cases of malnutrition in those under-5 years old. She identifies resources to meet needs of VCs which range from health to education, psychosocial care, shelter, household empowerment, nutrition, and food security. She possesses a vast wealth of experience in community entry, advocacy, and in implementing sustainable community-based interventions. She educates women on KHHP, infant feeding, HIV prevention, and treatment. She facilitate sessions with PLHIV on positive health, dignity, prevention and adherence.

Sipasi Olalekan Ayodele is a multi-award winning professional farmer with expertise in sustainable best agricultural practices.
Sipasi founded ProtectOzone in 2015 to mobilize citizen consciousness in protecting the ozone layer and simultaneously producing clean food in order to fight hunger and alleviate poverty. He has distributed over 35,500 seeds of trees and vegetables, carried out diverse environment friendly projects, established Demonstration Farms, and trained more than 6,000 children, youths, farmers and active citizens on sustainable agricultural practice. In the future, he plans to replicate the project across the 36 States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. He represented Africa at the G20 Summit in 2017 on “ONE World without Hunger is Possible.”

Oluwatosin Akintola is a student of politics, a lover of art and a media enthusiast. Growing up in a family of news junkies sparked her passion for both media and politics – the two fields in which she currently works. Most recently, she concluded an internship at TELL Communications Limited.

Oluwatosin believes that economic development exists on spectrum and, at this point in its developmental history, Africa should focus on finding local solutions to local problems. To this end, she recently developed a set of well received policy tools as part of a research project focused on finding African Solutions to African problems (ASAP).

Halima Layeni lends her voice to champion the cause of survivors of sexual abuse by focusing on issues related to post-abuse trauma. Halima draws on her personal experience as a survivor of sexual abuse as a means of demonstrating that a beautiful and fulfilling life after abuse is attainable. To that end, she founded the Life After Abuse Foundation, a non-profit committed to raising awareness about sexual abuse and providing medical, psychological and legal support for survivors of sexual abuse.

Halima’s greatest strength is her empathy: having firsthand knowledge of the challenges that survivors of sexual abuse face, she is able to relate to their experiences and offer a helping hand.

Henry is a social innovator and space enthusiast who is passionate about STEM education and youth empowerment. He believes the ultimate goal of any project must be to have the greatest social impact.

Henry is the co-founder of AstioTech, a social-enterprise that leverages 3D printing and locally sourced materials to manufacture the ‘IrawoScope’ – Africa’s first 3D-printed telescope. This affordable telescope aims to inspire young people to dream BIG and reach for the stars. Additionally, AstioTech is the only African startup selected to participate in the world’s first space digital accelerator.

Henry was a finalist at the 2017 Singularity University Global Impact Challenge for West Africa and is interested in leveraging emerging technologies to inspire the next generation of African scientist, engineers and astronauts.

Currently, he volunteers as the membership manager for the United Nation’s Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC)
